Houston's Main System blends surface water from the San Jacinto River at Lake Conroe and Lake Houston, and the Trinity River at Lake Livingston, with groundwater from 104 wells in the Evangeline and Chicot aquifers.
Houston is served by six separate water systems, and many suburbs including Cypress, Katy and The Woodlands sit on their own Municipal Utility District wells rather than City of Houston water, so what comes out of the tap changes address to address.
